The seventh of ten thematic workshops was held regarding the implementation of Core Features of the Basque Good Practice in Zagreb, Croatia from the 27th to the 28th of June 2022. The overall topic of the workshop was Patient Empowerment, hosted and organized by the Croatian Institute of Public Health (Hrvatski zavod za javno zdravstvo – HZJZ) in close cooperation with experts from the Basque original Good Practice.
The event was organized in a hybrid format (face-to-face and online) in which 28 people from different organisations participated, 18 in presence and up to 10 online.
After the welcome addresses from Krunoslav Capak (Director of the Croatian Institute of Public Health), Marija Bubaš (Croatian Institute of Public Health), Dunja Skoko Poljak (Ministry of Health), Jelena Curać (Croatian Health Insurance Fund) and Mirjana Kujundžić Tiljak (Andrija Štampar School of Public Health, Director, School of Medicine, University of Zagreb), different sessions were held on the Health System in Croatia, the Health Care Financing, the Croatian National Patient Portal, as well as the role of patient organizations in the Croatian healthcare system.
The Basque experiences on the Core Features in Patient Empowerment were elaborated by experts, before the Next Adopters presented the current status of their implementation actions, accompanied by a vivid discussion and knowledge exchange.
- In the first workshop session, participants compiled their experiences on bottlenecks, problems, and their solutions, facilitators, challenges, and learnings. The first day closed with a guided local tour of Zagreb.
- The main goal of the second day was the reflection and joint discussion of the first-day workshop results and a session on how to strengthen the sustainability of the individual JADECARE actions of the partners.
Overall, the workshop was an in-depth knowledge and experience exchange and a fruitful preparation for further implementation steps and improvements!
